PURPOSE OF THE POSITION:
The Supply Chain Optimization Manager is responsible for overseeing the analysis, optimization, and continuous improvement of operational performance across the distribution network. This strategic role drives efficiency gains, streamlines processes, and implements data-driven strategies to enhance productivity, profitability, and service delivery excellence. Responsible for all branches and includes but not limited to Langhaul Distribution: Allied Cargo
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:
- Collect, analyse, and interpret data from multiple sources to assess distribution network performance and operational efficiency.
- Design, create, and maintain comprehensive Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and metrics to monitor operational effectiveness.
- Develop regular reports, dashboards, and visualisations to communicate performance metrics, trends, and insights to senior leadership.
- Identify inefficiencies, waste, and constraints within distribution processes and develop comprehensive optimisation strategies.
- Lead and manage process improvement initiatives to streamline workflows, reduce operational costs, and enhance overall performance.
- Apply Lean methodologies, Six Sigma, Kaizen, or other operational excellence frameworks to recommend and implement sustainable improvements.
- Work closely with supply chain, logistics, warehouse operations, and inventory management teams to identify operational challenges and implement effective solutions.
- Provide expert guidance and recommendations for optimising inventory management, order fulfilment processes, and delivery performance.
- Facilitate communication and alignment between operations and other departments (commercial, finance, IT) to ensure cohesive execution of company goals.
- Contribute to the development of long-term strategies for scaling operations and improving distribution network capabilities.
- Develop and utilise forecasting models to predict demand patterns, inventory requirements, and potential operational bottlenecks.
- Conduct scenario planning and sensitivity analysis to support strategic decision-making.
- Leverage advanced analytics tools and software (Excel, Power BI, SQL, Tableau, Python, R) to gather insights and enable data-driven decision-making.
- Identify and evaluate emerging technologies and digital solutions to enhance operational capabilities.
- Support the implementation and optimisation of supply chain management systems, warehouse management systems (WMS), and transportation management systems (TMS).
- Conduct time-motion studies, capacity analysis, and workflow assessments to optimise resource utilisation.
QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCES & SKILLS:
- Grade 12 Certificate.
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, Operations Research, Industrial Engineering, Logistics, or a related field.
- Minimum 5 years of progressive experience in operations management, supply chain optimisation, operations analytics, or similar analytical roles.
- Proven experience in distribution, logistics, or warehouse operations environments.
- Demonstrated track record of using data analysis to drive operational improvements and measurable efficiency gains.
- Experience leading process improvement initiatives with quantifiable results.
- Hands-on experience with data analytics tools and business intelligence platforms.
- Experience in FMCG, retail distribution, e-commerce fulfilment, or similar high-volume distribution environments.
- Familiarity with process improvement methodologies such as Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, Kaizen, Theory of Constraints, or Total Quality Management.
- Fluent in Afrikaans and English.
- Professional telephone etiquette.
- Attention to detail and accuracy.
- Must have a valid driver’s licence and reliable vehicle.
- Namibian Citizenship (certified ID or passport copy required).
- Good interpersonal and communication skills.
- Should be assertive and a logical thinker.
