Senior Engineer: Mechanical – SWAKOP URANIUM

MAIN PURPOSE OF THE JOB:

To assist the managers with the coordination of Mechanical Engineering activities concerned with design, construction, modification, and commissioning of the Heap Leach Plant’s Construction and Commissioning to ensure effective and efficient project implementation, adherence to standards and procedures, including compliance to SSHER requirements.

Key Performance Areas:

• Assist the technical manager in reviewing and approving EPC mechanical design drawings and managing design changes.
• Assist the quality manager in reviewing and approving Mechanical Quality Control Packs and managing quality control.
• Responsible to align and oversee EPC on-site mechanical related installation coordination.
• Conduct daily inspections of the construction progress in each area and ensure that resources meet the progress requirements of the area.
• Assist the safety manager and quality manager in conducting regional special inspections.
• Strictly enforce and control all Change Management activities.
• Ensure all As-Built Drawings and all technical field related documents are received, archived, stored and available for future reference.

Requirements and experience:

• B.Sc, BEng or B. Tech Mechanical Engineering
• 5 years’ experience in construction projects of which 2 years should have been in a senior capacity.
• Mining / Processing / Large Scale Construction Project experience will be a distinct advantage.
• Good track record of contract & contractor coordination.
• Experience in risk management and compliance with engineering codes.
• Proficiency in mechanical engineering software (AutoCAD) or equivalent.
• Registration with Engineering Council of Namibia or equivalent professional body will be an added advantage.
• Code B or BE/ CE Driver’s License.
