Description
MAIN PURPOSE OF THE JOB:
To supervise Mining activities in the open pit area to ensure that shift production in area of responsibility such as, drilling, utility and load & haul, quality targets are met in line with Safety, Security, Health, Environmental, Radiation and Quality (SSHERQ) requirements.
Key Performance Areas:
- Supervise various mining operations within designated areas of the pit as assigned by the Team Leader to ensure operations are done safely and efficiently.
- Check that various operational areas meet established standards and take corrective actions where required promptly and effectively.
- Conduct Planned Task Observations (PTOs) and job safety analyses to ensure all activities in the assigned area are performed accurately and safely.
- Inspect and update maintenance tasks on various equipment and facilities in the assigned area to understand the root cause and give recommendations on appropriate corrective actions.
- Provide status reports to Team Leader on all activities within the assigned area and ensure all machines are booked under the right status code.
- Liaise with support services (maintenance, blasting, geology, survey, load & haul, drilling, etc.) to ensure efficient coordination of activities in the assigned areas.
Requirements
Requirements and experience:
- Grade 12 or current NSSCO with 20 points over 5 subjects.
- 5 years’ experience as an operator within Mining Operations (1 year for candidates with a mining related qualification)
- Supervisory experience in Loading & Hauling operations will be an added advantage
- Blasting Certificate is an added advantage
- Knowledge of mining processes in an open pit mining operations
- Valid Code B/BE Driver’s License.
