Specialist: Mapping & GIS – CITY of WINDHOEK

Carry out specialised Geographic Information System (GIS) activities and supervision thereof.

• Supervise the work/job activities of the staff members in the Section.
• Formulate, implement and monitor the City’s GIS and Mapping strategy and related policies.
• Develop, manage and maintain entreprise GIS systems, geodatabases and other mapping applications.
• Ensure compliance with spatial data management standards. legal requirements and institutional framework.
• Provide expert advice and technical support on GIS and spatial analysis to all departments.
• Coordinate organisational GIS and mapping projects.
• Promote data driven decision making through geospatial analysis, visualisation and reporting.
• Carries out evaluation of tenders and contract management and writing of submissions related to GIS and mapping projects.

Qualification requirements:

Bachelors Degree in GIS or Geomatics (NQF 8)

Masters Degree in GIS will serve as an added advantage.

Experience requirements:

Five (5) years relevant experience

Legal requirements:

Code B/BE driver’s license

Salary: NS542,256.00 pa

Housing Allownace: N$216,900.00 pa

Vehicle Allowance: N$214,752.00
